UN NIÑO QUE BAILA EN EL VIENTO

Baila allí en la costa;
¿Por qué te ha de importar
el rugido del agua o del viento?
y despeina tu pelo
que las gotas saladas empaparon;
por ser joven no has conocido
el triunfo del necio, ni tampoco
has perdido el amor tan pronto lo ganaste,
ni viste muerto al mejor trabajador
con todas las gavillas por atar.
¿Por qué has de temer
el clamor monstruoso de los vientos?

W. B. Yeats (Dublín, 1865 - Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Francia, 1939)
(Traducción de Enrique Caracciolo Trejo)

To a child dancing in the wind

Dance there upon the shore;
What need have you to care
For wind or water's roar?
And tumble out your hair
That the salt drops have wet;
Being young you have not know
The fool's triumphs, not yet
Love lost as soon asa won,
Nor the best labourer dead
And all the sheaves to bind.
What need have you to dread
The monstrous crying of wind?
